Direct Support Professional Level 1
HOURS:
FT / PT
SCHEDULE:
Schedule determined between client and Direct Support Professional
LOCATION:
Clackamas, Multnomah, Washington, Marion, Polk, Yamhill counties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Ensure that the basic needs of clients are met
- Assist clients in learning basic living skills
- Assisting clients in adapting to the community environment and establishing supportive relationships within the community
- Assist clients in areas of personal care, home management, meal planning, shopping and health maintenance
- Provide positive behavioral support in employment and community involvement
- Interact with client families, case managers and the public in a positive, professional manner
- Transport and meet clients supported at various goal-oriented, community activities and locations
- Document Individual Progress Notes and document all reporting requirements
- Promote and practice teamwork through respectful interactions with other staff
- Model, coach and counsel clients regarding appropriate social and interpersonal skills
- Maintain a safe environment for clients according to Social Abilities Provider Agency operational policies
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED To perform this job successfully, an individual must satisfactorily meet each essential of the requirements listed below representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- 18 Years +
- Must pass Oregon DHS criminal background check
- Able to work alone and manage services to multiple clients in a service area
- Have reliable transportation and willing to navigate Portland metro and surrounding areas
- Willing to work a flexible work schedule that may vary from time to time
- Demonstrate competency with skills and abilities to work successfully with the challenging behaviors of supported clients in care
- Demonstrated competency in basic knowledge of daily living skills, communication, community interaction and recreation
- Demonstrated capacity to be an appropriate role model, including exhibiting mature behavior and making appropriate decisions.
- Microsoft Word or equivalent
EDUCATION
- High School or GED
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Acceptable driving record
- Current drivers Oregon Drivers License
- Auto Insurance
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE A successful candidate will have computer experience, and possess good oral and written communication skills. Some experience in social, human services, care-giving or medical field is desired, but not required. Social Abilities Provider Agency is a drug free workplace. - Support with First Aid and/or handling of emergencies as needed
